Kindergarten Programs

Investigation

In the Investigation program, students will explore the environment around them, learning skills related to observation, communication, and data collection, which support the science and engineering practices dimension of the NGSS.

Available options: In-Person, Synchronous, and Asynchronous.

In-Person

The in-person classroom program includes an additional Schoolyard Snoop component (required) where students practice their investigation skills just outside of the classroom.

Total time for each classroom: 3 hours (90-minutes for Classroom program, 90-minutes for Schoolyard Snoop)

Classroom Activities: Senses; Finger Detectives; How Do You Know?; Backyard Soil (all kits are required, depending on the number of students in the class; one kit may be used as an introduction, instead).

Synchronous

These live, interactive programs, led by trained volunteers, help students use the tools in their own homes or classrooms to develop exploration and observation skills.

Total time for each synchronous lesson: ~30 minutes

Asynchronous

Students are invited to participate in a series of at-home activities designed for them to easily do on their own with some adult supervision, using tools which can be found around the house to develop exploration and observation skills. This series includes a self-guided Snoop component where students can practice their investigation skills just outside of the home. See Asynchronous Programs for more details.

(In-Person Only) In the All About Birds program, students will explore the wide variety of birds typically found in our local neighborhoods. Learn about the unique features of bird beaks, feet, and feathers that help these beautiful animals thrive. EV Classic.

Total time for each classroom: 90 minutes

Classroom Activities: Nests and Eggs; Bird Costume; Bird Study Skins; Bird Utensils
