In June, Environmental Volunteers partnered with Western Digital to bring a four-part series of volunteering events to their San José and Fremont campuses. With the help of 500+ enthusiastic employees, we packed thousands of native California wildflower seeds to give away at our community programs! We’re thrilled with the success of these events, and we are immensely grateful to Western Digital for being a trusted and long-standing partner of our organization.

What Inspired Western Digital to Partner with EV?
“Western Digital chose to partner with EV because of their inspiring mission to instill environmental responsibility in young people. We believe that sustainability becomes a lifelong value when introduced early—whether through anti-litter and recycling habits, natural resource conservation, or respect for ecosystems. By empowering youth as environmental stewards from a young age, EV aligns well with our commitment to driving a sustainable future.”
Supporting Employee Engagement Goals and Values
“EV’s events align seamlessly with Western Digital’s philanthropic focus on the environment. Each year we dedicate an entire quarter to focus our volunteering efforts on environmental causes. These activities strengthen our strategy by engaging employees all around the globe in hands-on volunteering and learning events, reinforcing sustainability values, and building community connections while supporting our environmental and business objectives.
By 2030, Western Digital strives to achieve 100 percent carbon free energy in operations and reach net-zero emissions by 2032. In addition, we aim to divert 95% of operational waste from landfills by 2030, reduce water withdrawals by 20 percent compared to 2022, and embed 43 percent recycled content in enterprise HDD products and 72 percent in their packaging by 2030.”
